– This war seems to last a long time, unfortunately. As long as Ukraine is willing to fight, we must support them. That is our basic view, says Defense Minister Bjørn Arild Gram (Sp) to VG.

He is at a meeting in Ramstein in Germany with colleagues from around 50 countries in the group that supports Ukraine militarily.

The Hellfire weapon system from Norway, which is now in place in Ukraine, was originally acquired for the Coast Guard Command. The Norwegian Armed Forces are in the process of phasing out this system now. The range is from 500 to 11,000 metres. The laser-guided missile is launched from one foot, while the fire line can take place from another location. The delivery includes approximately 160 missiles, as well as equipment for launching and fire control. Norwegian instructors have taught Ukrainian soldiers how to use the weapon.

According to Gram, Norway has so far provided equipment that has been phased out or is in the process of being phased out by the Norwegian defence.

– A big topic at today’s meeting is direct procurement from the defense industry, as you can no longer provide from your own stocks. Now the industry is giving up a lot to be able to deliver.

He says that the defense leadership in Ukraine is present at the meeting in Ramstein to update on their needs for military support.

– In short, they want more of everything, says Gram.
