Eriksen has also submitted his wife’s disability certificate to the parking agency, writes Fredrikstad Blad.
Eriksen has been leader of the Fredrikstad Progress Party for 30 years. He currently sits on the city council in Fredrikstad and on the county council in Østfold.
So far, Dagbladet has not been able to get a comment from Eriksen about his resignation. But to Fredrikstad Blad he says:
– I am very sorry for what I have done. I have great respect for both the municipality and the residents and apologize most strongly for what has happened.
In addition to handing in the HC certificate, Eriksen has stated that he has contacted the toll companies so that he will henceforth pay for toll crossings.
– Shouldn’t have done this
Dagbladet revealed on Sunday that Eriksen had used HC evidence several times in violation of the regulations.
When Dagbladet confronted Eriksen about the matter during the Progress Party’s national meeting at the weekend, he admitted to having used HC evidence in violation of the rules on several occasions:
– I have no need to abuse this card financially, but I admit that I shouldn’t have done this, says Eriksen to Dagbladet.
– We have spoken to several people who say this is not a one-off case?
– I wouldn’t say that. As a rule, my wife is with me.
– As a rule, but not always?
– No, not always. But I haven’t used it to any great extent, I haven’t. I have not done it systematically. There have been some cases, but not often, says Eriksen.
Eriksen would not say how long his wife had been issued a HC certificate, or how long he had been using the certificate.
