Stig Arild Slørdahl will leave his job as managing director of Helse Midt-Norge on 1 August 2024. After nine years in the role, Slørdahl believes that the time has come for new forces in the management.

Slørdahl, who has been in the top management position since 2015, describes his time in the job as both inspiring and challenging. – A senior manager should not sit for too long, and in August I have been manager of Helse Midt-Norge for nine years. Then it’s a good idea to scale back, says Slørdahl, who emphasizes the importance of renewal in management for both the organization and himself.

Slørdahl is also a member of the Decision-Making Forum and will also leave this position when a new chief executive of Helse Midt-Norge takes over.

“The time was ripe”

About a year ago, Slørdahl began discussing a possible departure with chairman Odd Inge Mjøen, and felt that “the time was soon ripe to let someone else take over what he characterizes as the most exciting and rewarding job in central Norway.”

Under Slørdahl’s leadership, Helse Midt-Norge has undergone significant changes, including navigating through the pandemic and the implementation of several major projects. Among these are the establishment of a new hospital at Hjelset in Møre og Romsdal, a new security building at Østmarka, transition to a new financial and logistics system, a joint warehouse for the region, as well as the introduction of the Health Platform.

These measures have been central to strengthening health services in the region. Slørdahl praises the highly competent and committed employees who are “passionate about us delivering an outstanding health service to the population.”

Get praise

Chairman Odd Inge Mjøen praises Slørdahl for his efforts: – Stig has made an outstanding contribution to the specialist health service both locally, regionally and nationally, says Mjøen. He adds that Slørdahl has led the work to ensure that the region has an excellent health service for the population.

Slørdahl says that his departure involves no drama, but marks a planned change to ensure a smooth transition. He will continue in the role over the summer, so that the process of recruiting a new top manager can get off to a good start.
