At 13.04 the police were notified of the incident. An hour later, they report that they have the man under control.

He must have been intoxicated and aggressive. The man had also displayed a weapon or similar, says the South-Eastern Police District.

Operations manager Marianne Mørch tells VG that the police found something reminiscent of a gas pistol on the man.

– He appeared completely out of his mind, the police write on X.

The man had run from the scene. The police armed themselves, and were quickly there and got control of the man.

Appeared in the schoolyard

The principal at the school, Line Marie Refsdal, says that the man appeared in the school yard in Lundedalen in Skien.

– He appeared intoxicated, and that can seem threatening to some students. Fortunately, we have fast employees who were on the scene and got him away from the students.

Refsdal is not aware that the man had displayed a weapon. She says that the police came quickly to the scene with three patrols after they called.

– I would like to give praise to the employees who act calmly and confidently in terms of how they handled this.

She has just had a conversation with teachers and the staff who were directly involved. In addition, they have sent out a message to parents.

– They can contact the individual contact teacher if there are any children talking about this at home.
