– We think we have got a pretty good picture of what happened. But we don’t want to go out with everything yet, says police attorney Kjersti Katrine Svendsen in the West police district.

The fatal accident happened a little before the Nonneseter stop. The light rail ran in the direction of Flesland.

First on the pavement

The police have studied video images from several angles.

Svendsen states that the man who died after the collision came driving onto the pavement on the town hall side.

In other words, the man came driving on the left side of the light rail vehicle, in the same direction as this one.

– He came running parallel to the light rail car, on the pavement towards the town hall and the other buildings there, says Svendsen.

The light rail was running in the direction of Flesland, and the accident happened just before the Nonneseter stop in Kaigaten.

Out on the light rail track

At one point, the man on the electric scooter drove out into the light rail track, before he was hit by the carriage and ended up underneath.

– We do not want per now to go out with details on exactly where he should have crossed. We have to check that information properly first, says Svendsen.

Same status

The truck driver still has the status of a suspect. The police have been keen to point out that this does not mean that they see reason to blame the driver.

– No new questioning has been taken of the driver for the time being, says Svendsen.

The accident happened a little after 07:00 on Monday morning, and there were many people in the area.

The man in his 30s was pronounced dead a short time later.
