SpareBank 1 Nord-Norge is replacing the one-time code app. This means that customers who currently use the one-time code app must now switch to the BankID app.

Since 2011, SpareBank 1 Nord-Norge has offered its customers login and payment authorization via the one-time code app. In 2022, BankID came up with a similar solution that most banks have now adopted – the BankID app. Now SpareBank 1 has also switched to this. It means that the one-time code app will stop working shortly.

– Customers with the one-time code app have been told to switch to the BankID app. Many have already done this, but there is still a lot to do, says Lene Junge, payment specialist at SpareBank 1 Nord-Norge.

– A simple process

The bank is now asking customers who are still using the one-time code app to switch apps as soon as possible.

– It is a very simple process that only takes a couple of minutes: download the BankID app in the App Store or Google Play, open the app and follow the steps from there, says Junge.

Junge adds that information about the transition to the BankID app, including step-by-step guidance, is readily available on the bank’s website.

– We are also helpful both physically in the banks and on the phone and chat, to answer questions and assist customers who need it, says Junge.

Customers who use a physical code chip and wish to continue doing so do not need to take any action.

Be aware of scams and be careful with links

There are many fraudsters who try to take advantage of changes around BankID and the one-time code app. The bank therefore asks customers and others to be careful if they should receive SMS or e-mails that contain links or other suspicious content.

– We emphasize that we not sends customers links by SMS or email in this process. Do not log in or download anything via links if this is sent to you. Download the BankID app directly from the App Store or Google Play. Also make sure you never give out your BankID password or other sensitive information – no matter who gets in touch and asks about this, says Lene Junge.
