The pizza price war has reached the stores in Bergen. Now you can get a Pizza Grandiosa for NOK 20, a price we haven’t seen the likes of for several years.

Rema 1000 Xhibition received a delivery with Grandiosa on Monday, the same day the shelves were stripped.

– There are 3,000-4,000 customers in our store every day, unfortunately we don’t have 3,000-4,000 grandis lying around, says the store’s deputy manager Jonas Vikane and laughs.

– I wouldn’t want to go all out

Vikane says that there are no stores that win by having a price war, only those that buy.

– Who hoards the most?

– It varies. I heard some students pass by and say: “It’s rubbish that there’s an offer on grandis, then I have to buy as it’s so cheap”, says Vikane.

– Do you have any tips for people when there are such good offers as now?

– You can certainly buy, but I wouldn’t want to go all out, says Vikane.

He goes on to say that if everyone hoards, only a few get.

Both Kiwi, Rema 1000, Extra and Oda now sell Grandiosa for just over NOK 20. In comparison, it costs 64.70 at Meny, wrote Nettavisen on Tuesday.

Grandiosa is a typical promotional product and is used to lure customers to the store, they report further.

This time it was Extra who started this race to the bottom.

– We take the blame for the crazy price of Grandiosa original. This week we have 30 per cent on selected Grandiosa varieties, says communications director Harald Kristiansen to Nettavisen.

– Think of others!

At Rema 1000 Kløverhuset, it’s not just students who want cheap pizza. Deputy chief Silje Magnussen says that all age groups seem to be interested. Although the store has set a maximum limit of three Grandiosas per person, they still ran out immediately.

– Think of others! You should respect the maximum limit, and not go in and out of the store eight times because you want the most, says Magnussen.

At Kiwi on Nøstet there was no maximum limit. Store employee Vanja Espenes Tjoland believes that people generally limit themselves.

– I think the store earns quite a bit from that, people buy more than they would normally do.
