News alert, Power prices | Shock price for electricity in Northern Norway tomorrow
--

While the electricity prices in Southern Norway and Eastern Norway have been like a rollercoaster in the last couple of years, Northern Norway has been spared the wildest jumps. But tomorrow people from Nordland and further north will really notice high electricity prices.

In Northern Norway, there will be an average price for electricity of NOK 1.055 per kilowatt hour (kWh) on Wednesday and a maximum price of NOK 1.53.

Wednesday’s average price per kWh is 37.3 øre higher than Tuesday and 53.4 øre higher than the same day last year, figures from hvakosterstrommen.no show.

The maximum price on Wednesday of NOK 1.53 per kWh is between 7 and 8 in the morning. It is 72.6 øre higher than Tuesday and 61.4 øre higher than the same day last year.

If you ignore the electricity subsidy, but include the consumption tax (15.84 øre per kWh) and the fee for Enova (1 øre per kWh), the maximum price in Northern Norway would be NOK 1.7.

90 per cent of the price above 73 øre is covered by the electricity subsidy, and the subsidy is calculated hour by hour. This means that in the hour the price is NOK 1.53, 72.7 øre is covered.

In Northern Norway, there is no VAT on electricity for households, and in Finnmark and Northern Troms, households and public administration also do not have to pay the consumption tax.

The minimum price will be 84.2 øre per kWh between midnight and 1 am.
