Figures from NAV show that at the end of March there were 1,905 registered jobseekers who were completely unemployed in Nordland. This amounts to 1.6 per cent of the workforce. Compared to the same period last year, there has been an increase in unemployment of 350 people.

– Despite the increase, unemployment in Nordland is still low, and many positions are advertised. The somewhat increased unemployment provides opportunities for businesses that need labour, and there are still very good opportunities for jobseekers in Nordland, says director at NAV Nordland Cathrine Stavnes in a press release.

At the end of March, there are 820 immigrants registered as completely unemployed jobseekers, which makes up 43 per cent of all completely unemployed. Naturally, most of them are from Ukraine with 220 people.

– We see that more and more Ukrainians are registering as unemployed on the labor market, which makes it possible to recruit new employees in the tight labor market we have in Nordland. NAV has various instruments that can contribute to a good start to the employment relationship, for example qualification measures, mentors and wage subsidies, Stavnes explains.

Figures from the Lofoten municipality show that 221 people were completely out of work at the end of March. There were 12 more than at the same time last year
