Sports, Football | Two from Trondheim make their RBK debut:

--

– I have been in the Kjernen for a few years. There I get to live more into the game. I have a friend there who has dragged me along quite a bit. Now I will play in front of them and it will be a dream. It’s incredibly big for me. As I said in the Rotsekk podcast, it’s as if one of them should have finished, only that I’m a little lighter in my body.

Rasmus Sandberg leans his head back a little and laughs loudly.

It is autumn 2023 and a real Rosenborg supporter has just signed for the team he has dreamed of playing for all his life.

Two debutants

Four months later, it is clear.

The goalkeeper will make his debut at Lerkendal.

He does that with another debutant, namely 18-year-old Jesper Reitan-Sunde.

Both have done well with boys and junior teams at Lerkendal. But where the grandson of Harald Sunde – who signed an A-team contract with RBK on Saturday – went straight from Salmarakademiet into Monday’s eleven in the series opener against Sandefjord, Sandberg took a penalty round to Stjørdal before becoming an RBK player.

– When I was young, I stood at home in the boys’ room and put on the old Tippeliga hymn and then Bilde tå’n Ivers and closed my eyes. Then I imagined that I was standing at Lerkendal and I have done that for 20 years, Sandberg said in a joint interview with Nidaros and Adressa, just over a week before the start of the series.

Because when Sander Tangvik received a red card and suspension in the 5-1 victory against Viking in the last round of the series last year, it was clear that the 23-year-old was going to be the series opener.

Seven people from Trondheim

Now it is clear.

Sandberg and Reitan-Sunde are one of seven people from Trondheim who start the premiere.

Most doubts were about whether there would be an eighth as well, but Ole Sæter is not ready for a 90-minute role, RBK has assessed. Ulrik Yttergård Jenssen, on the other hand, is back from the injury he suffered against Tromsø earlier in the month. He goes straight into the eleven at left back.

Back to Sandberg’s cabin, in Oppdal, and a smiling RBK goalkeeper.

He whom the RBK supporters have pressed to their chests. He who, throughout a long run-up, has always walked around smiling and laughing, with the exception of a few minutes after the 4-1 loss against Vålerenga in Marbella.

Now he gets his chance, the man who sent the team out of the cup as Blink goalkeeper last year.

– I feel ready for the Eliteserien, there is no problem. Especially in the last year I have developed, I have felt like a big fish in a small pond in the 2nd division. I feel I’m very ready for the Eliteserien, I’ve got a beard on my chin now. It was a junior who came to Blink, but a senior who came back, he said confidently last autumn.

RBK lines up like this (4-3-3):
Rasmus Sandberg
Erlend Dahl Reitan, Mikkel Ceide Konradsen, Tomas Nemcik, Ulrik Yttergård Jenssen
Markus Henriksen, Ole Selnæs, Edvard Tagseth
Jesper Reitan-Sunde, Sverre Nypan, Jayden Nelson
