The police say that during the night they have received many inquiries from the public in connection with cars and motorcycles that have driven “ugly and at high speed on the road network in Oslo”.
They must have observed larger accumulations of cars in several places in the city.
– The incidents are linked to a so-called “Street meet”, the police say.
Just before 04.00 they inform that they have checked approximately 200 cars at Sognsvann.
– The police have pointed out and imposed deficiency notes on technical deficiencies which mean that they have to correct a number of mistakes and deficiencies, but there were no reactions beyond that from the police, operations manager Roy Langengen tells Avisa Oslo.
He explains that last night they received a message from the East police district which said that the cars were heading in the direction of Oslo.
– In addition, we received several reports about noise. There was a bit of pressure on the phone for a period, says Langengen.
The drivers must have gathered at Haugenstua. It is in this area that there must have been a lot of noise.
