Shakira (47) and her two sons are not fans of the award-winning film.

In an interview with the magazine Allure, the Colombian singing star talks about how important it is that women are allowed to be themselves without having to apologize.
– We have had to apologize so damn much over the years.
But when Shakira is asked about the new “Barbie” movie, which has won many awards and been praised for its feminist message, she is rather lukewarm. But she hair set it.

According to Shakira, the boys, aged 11 and nine, believe that the film disempowers men and robs them of “the opportunity to be a man”.

Shakira explains that she likes when popular culture uplifts women without it happening at the expense of men. She believes that men must still be allowed to “support and protect”.
– Just because the woman is able to do everything alone, doesn’t mean she has to.
The 47-year-old says she believes in giving women tools and encouraging them that they can do anything without “losing the essence of who they are and their own femininity”.
– I believe that women and men have different roles in society, and that we must complement each other. It must not be lost.
