About a year ago, Julie Bergan (29) and the international record company, Warner Music, ended their collaboration. Both parties confirmed this to VG.

– The company was changing at the same time that Julie was at a point in her career where she wanted to explore new opportunities and new partners for the further venture, Bergan’s manager, Cecilie Torp Holte, stated at the time.

On Monday morning, Bergan is a guest on the podcast, “Hanna & the lucky ones”, where she tells more about why she chose to withdraw from the record company.

Wanted more control

As mentioned, the artist wanted to explore new possibilities, and in the podcast episode she says that it has been instructive, but still does not hide that it has been a big responsibility.

– When you are self-employed, you are thrown into an awful lot that you are supposed to be able to do. You don’t think that you have to do accounting, which you should have learned at school. It’s a lot of responsibility, she says in the podcast.

Although the 29-year-old has learned a lot from not having a record company behind her, she can also say that it has been challenging at times and that she has had many big surprises in the past year:

– I think it’s very positive for personal growth and an important step in my career, but I’ve also had some serious problems. It’s a bit ironic, because I took that step to take one hundred percent control over my own career and creative freedom, but it almost immediately had the opposite effect because it was also a shock and too much freedom.

On Friday’s episode of “Lindmo”, artist Julie Bergan tells more about the episode with her, a friend and a foreign artist.

Nettavisen has been in contact with Julie Bergan’s manager, who says that Bergan does not want to comment on the matter beyond what she has already stated in the podcast.

– Scary

Furthermore, the 29-year-old says that she takes more ownership of songs that do well now that she has all the responsibility alone, but that she also takes it as a bigger defeat if a song doesn’t reach the top:

– I have always been afraid of getting older for a reason, and last year I dared to set limits in other work situations that I have not dared to do before. It was positive for my own growth, but it was also scary to talk about it externally. There were many things that tested me.

There is no doubt that Bergan has had a hectic year, and earlier this month she was able to reveal that she is taking on the role of “Norske Talenter” judge, and stated to VG that the judging job is a milestone for her.

Especially since she has signed up for the program several times in the past:

– I grew up with programs like this, and actually signed up for “Norske Talenter” several years in a row. In that sense, it will be a real milestone to be able to sit on the other side of the table, Bergan wrote in an SMS to the newspaper.

The talent competition got a new lease of life last year on TVNorge, and for the new season the artist also replaces actor Dennis Storhøi (63).
