Only when armed police fired grenades with tear gas into the home in Sokndal in Rogaland did they get hold of two acquaintances.

Afterwards they were released.

The police write on X that on the night of Sunday, threats against the police related to the address in question were called in, and that these are people the police already know.

The police therefore decided to search the address. Because the police know the persons in question, it was decided that the police should be armed during the mission.

Used tear gas

– We cannot ignore the fact that they are in possession of weapons, that is why we are armed on the spot, Ragnhildstveit told Aftenbladet.

At 16.15 the police confirm that they have control over two people, but that no one has been formally arrested.

– We gave them countless orders. In the end, we had to go up a notch, says operations manager Irene Ragnhildstveit in the Sørvest police district to NTB.

The police eventually had to shoot tear gas through the windows of the address. Only then did they gain control of the two who were indoors, and were able to carry out the search. According to the police attorney, the address has been seized, but he will not say what has been found.

– There are no more people there than the two who are already under control. The police have therefore ended the operation and are now in the process of searching the address, the police write on X at 6pm on Sunday.

Both people who were at the scene were released shortly afterwards.

One of the two was charged with threats, but the police prosecutor considered that the person in question does not pose any danger to the public or that there is a risk of destroying evidence.

Drone and megaphone

It was just after 1pm on Sunday, readers reported to Stavanger Aftenblad about a large police presence at a residence in Dalane. There must have been talk of several patrol cars with armed police forces.

For a long time, the police allegedly tried to get the people inside the house to come out voluntarily, without success.

A neighbor at the scene told Stavanger Aftenblad that the police used both a drone and a megaphone in the attempts.

– I have a good view of the house. There are many well-armed police present. I hear that they are trying to talk to those inside, without getting any response, I think, said the neighbour.

After a while, a video sent to Stavanger Aftenblad shows how the police, using a megaphone, tell the people inside the house to move away from the window, because they are going to fire gas cartridges.

In the same video, the people inside the house are asked to come out with their hands visible. It only happened after the police fired tear gas into the home.
