More than 295,000 Lotto prizes were awarded on Saturday evening in the first Lotto draw in May.

Among them, there were only two men who managed to achieve the greatest thing possible in Lotto: getting all seven straight in one and the same row.

The first Lotto millionaires of the month

The two Lotto players with seven correct on their coupons could thus rejoice over a prize of exactly NOK 7,005,480 each.

These are the two lucky men who shared the first prize pot in Lotto on Saturday 4 May:

Man from Øygarden: – I don’t quite know what to do

On the second attempt, we got hold of tonight’s Lotto millionaire from Western Norway. By then he was already aware that he had won.

– I am completely in shock. I walk around the living room here and don’t quite know where to go, laughs the man and adds:

– It was a good surprise that appeared when I checked the phone number and in the app.

The man says that he has bet and played Lotto for many years, but that he never thought he would end up as a Lotto millionaire.

– Tonight it was my turn. Who would have thought it, he beams happily.

Despite the fact that the millionaire status is probably so recent, the øygarding already has some plans for the prize.

– There will probably be some holiday trips and some traveling ahead now. I will also share the prize with my family, he concludes happily.

He bought the coupon on his mobile phone.

Man from Skien: – It has started to dawn on us now

We did not succeed in getting in touch with the recent Lotto millionaire from Skien on Saturday evening. On Sunday morning, however, he was quick to answer the call from Norsk Tipping.

– I saw that you had called last night, but I didn’t have time to answer. Then I tried to call again and then I understood where the call came from, the man chuckles happily.

– It has started to dawn on us now, although it is quite special to take it in.

The skier says that he is thinking about what the prize should be used for. Nevertheless, there is one thing he has decided to do:

– I will share part of the prize with my closest relatives. We actually have most of what we need, so I’m in no rush to use up the prize, he concludes happily.

He bought the coupon from Joker Klovholt.

Eleven people won over NOK 170,000 in second prize

Although there were only two people who won the first prize this Saturday, there were still many who ended the evening with a nice prize. The luckiest were eleven people who got 6+1 right and won NOK 179,755 each in second prize.

Chance of winning Lotto

To win first prize in Lotto, the player must have 7 correct winning numbers out of 34 possible. This means that if you play one row, the theoretical probability of getting 7 straight is 1:5.37 million per row (rounded up to 1:5.4 million per row). In other words: There are 5.4 million possible combinations of 7 numbers when you subtract 7 from the 34 numbers. Statistically speaking, you win a prize with 4 straight or better on average on every fifth coupon in five rows.
