The police report in a press release shortly before 9 p.m. that a Norwegian man in his 30s died in the accident, and that the next of kin have been notified.
The accident was reported at 4:18 p.m.
Tatjana Knappen is operations manager in the West police district. She stated that the fire and health services went up to the scene of the accident in a gondola.
– There are two civilians at the patient’s side, but we have no direct contact with them, she told BT after the accident.
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation was initiated, but unfortunately life could not be saved, according to Knappen.
In a press release, she writes that it is too early to say anything about what may have happened. The police have stated that a paraglider made a 180 degree turn into the rock wall shortly after takeoff.
At 9 p.m., the police are still at the scene of the accident and have started an investigation into the incident.
