Despite expensive times and a weak krone exchange rate, many Norwegians have decided to go somewhere warmer this summer.

Sparebank1 carried out a survey earlier this year, where they asked people how much they plan to spend on this year’s summer holiday.

Saves a lot

Those who have a holiday budget plan to spend an average of NOK 22,532 on this year’s summer holiday, compared to NOK 19,048 at the same time last year. This is an increase of NOK 3,484, or 18 per cent.

This is the highest planned holiday spending the bank has measured since the calculations began in 2015, according to the survey.

If there is still a shortage of money as the holiday approaches, it is something you must be aware of.

– Can not afford

It is not the case that travel insurance covers the cancellation of a holiday due to finances.

– Last year we experienced that several customers got cold travel feet as the summer approached. They realized that they could not afford to travel anyway, and contacted us with the wish to cancel their trip. But if you just change your mind, you won’t get any money back on your travel insurance. Then you have to contact the travel operator and investigate whether you can get money back, claims prevention officer Therese Hofstad-Nielsen in a message.

She further states that 1.9 million Norwegians have planned a trip abroad this summer. This is apparent from a survey Respons Analyze carried out on behalf of the company earlier this year.
