The reality star and law student met with Vice President Kamala Harris on Thursday to discuss the cause of her heart: Prison reform.

The meeting took place after President Joe Biden on Wednesday pardoned several people convicted of non-violent drug offenses in the United States.
Eleven people were fully pardoned, while five received a reduced sentence.
Four of those who were pardoned were at Thursday’s meeting between Kardashian and Harris, according to a White House official, Reuters news agency reports.
After the meeting, she shared a selfie where she holds up a peace sign in front of the White House, with the text:
– I can’t wait to share all the details from today’s New Chances event at the White House, followed by an emoji.
It’s no secret that prison reform is close to the heart of Kardashian, who is currently studying to become a lawyer.
Will win support for the election
At the same time, Harris wants to convince minority voters and young Americans to give Biden a chance for another four years in the White House.
That it is precisely prison reform that Harris is discussing with Kardashian is hardly a coincidence. Her background as state prosecutor and attorney general has led to descriptions of her as a “hard-nosed top police officer” hanging over her for a long time.
When she was San Francisco’s attorney general, she boasted of tripling the number of offenders sent to state prisons. And during her time as attorney general, she failed to investigate several police shootings, which has made her unpopular with black voters.
Since then, however, Harris has shown more signs of changing her position, and she has said she supports reform of the US prison system.
Has contributed to several releases
Kardashian, for her part, has been actively involved in the debate on criminal justice reform in recent years. Among other things, she has met Donald Trump repeatedly to discuss prison policy, both when he was president and afterwards.
The reality star has also contributed to the release of several prisoners and often sheds light on inmates’ cases on her social media, where she has a huge following.
That Trump opened up to the idea of criminal justice reform, which led to the passage of the First Step Act in 2018, is partly credited to Kardashian’s involvement.
Prison reform was a rare example of bipartisan agreement during Trump’s presidency, which even some of his harshest critics have celebrated.
