Spain is increasing the most, Thailand is back to normal and Italy is a dream destination for many.
Every year, the travel agency Ticket shares its booking statistics*, which show where most Norwegians want to travel. In 2024, Europe continues to grow in popularity with an increase of 4 percent from last year.
More people choose destinations in the local area, partly because of the price, but also because these destinations are perceived as safer and more flexible with many direct routes.

All the way to the top: Spain
Spain has been the most popular holiday country in recent years, according to Ticket. Orders have increased by 15 per cent compared to last year, and 45 per cent compared to before the pandemic. Six of the ten most booked destinations right now are all to Spain.
It is Alicante that accounts for the biggest increase at the moment with an increase of almost 30 per cent compared to last year. However, it is Gran Canaria that most Norwegians will travel to in 2024.

Strong return: Thailand
Thailand is back with 30 percent more orders compared to last year. Bangkok, as well as Phuket and Koh Samui are the most popular destinations in the country.
Summer is low season in Thailand, and the airlines tend to have lower ticket prices, so that more people choose the country as an alternative to a European holiday.

Decline: Greece and the United States
There is a slight decrease in the number of bookings for holidays to Greece right now. Some of the decline in orders may be due to many people still remembering last year’s forest fires and heat wave. Ticket predicts that growth will increase as summer approaches, if nothing unforeseen happens this year.
The USA was always high on the list of countries most people wanted to travel to, but now the order is only approx. 40 percent of what it was before the pandemic. The high dollar exchange rate and a presidential election means that a lot needs to be done before the US ends up at the top of the list again.
The survey also asked where Norwegians do not want to travel, and in the top three we find:
Turkey (24%)
Egypt (19%)
USA (18%)

Dream destination: Italy
Italy ends up in second place among the countries customers would most like to travel to in 2024. This is also reflected in the booking statistics, and bookings for trips to Italy have increased compared to last year.
There are cities such as Rome, Milan, Venice, Sicily, Florence and Bologna that attract Norwegian tourists.

Big city favourites: London and Paris
Great Britain and France are on this year’s top list, and it is the big cities of London and Paris that, together with Nice, are popular travel destinations.
Ticket still believes that trips to London and Paris can increase during the many long weekends during the spring, because customers often book weekend trips at short notice.
