Emelie Rosenqvist – Shock message: – I panicked

It is the Swedish Expressen that writes about the internal drama that unfolded after the Swedish bandy star Emelie Rosenqvist (27) suddenly changed clubs in the middle of the playoffs in Sweden.

The 27-year-old played for Lund, which was in a historic play-off, when she suddenly announced a transfer to Malmö at the weekend. Now it appears that there must have been a very special reason for the club change.

Last Monday, Rosenqvist is said to have received an unexpected email from management. The message must have been that she had acted disloyally towards the club, and that they had therefore chosen to ban her. She claims she had no idea what the cause was, and went into a state of shock.

– I panicked and felt: “What is happening?” I was kicked out of the team’s Facebook group, but I didn’t know what I had done, says Rosenqvist to Expressen.

Even after a conversation with the manager in Lund, she is said to have received no explanation. According to the club, this must have been out of respect for another player on the team. Thus she had to continue to ponder what the cause could be.

The next day came the disappointing reply.

Lund believes that the 27-year-old had tried to persuade a team-mate to change clubs. She denies it, and says that it was just a casual chat on Messenger, where she wrote, among other things: “Are you going to join, aren’t you? ;)»

– It’s so terribly personal. They piss me off, says Rosenqvist about the matter.

She tried to plead her innocence to the club management, but was not heard.

– We have chosen to inform Emelie about the reason, but have chosen not to comment on it further. It’s about us having a different view of how to talk about other things outside the club. We will not comment on it more than that, says Daniel Linderståhl in Lund to Expressen.

He confirms that the club interprets it as Rosenqvist trying to persuade the mentioned teammate to change clubs. At the same time, he admits that the club could have handled the case differently from the start.
