Pyotr Kucherenko, Russia’s Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education died. He was 47 years old. This is what the state-run Russian news agency Tass writes on Sunday.

According to the news agency, Kucherenko is said to have fallen ill and died after returning home from a work trip to Cuba.

– On 20 May, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education in the Russian Federation, Pyotr Alexandrovich Kucherenk, died, says a statement from the ministry.

According to Tass, the minister must have fallen ill on board the plane, but the doctors were unable to save his life.

In a statement from the Health authorities in the territory of the Stavropol kraj, it is stated that a passenger fell ill on board the plane en route from Havana to Moscow. The plane therefore made an emergency landing at the airport in the town of Mineralnye Vody.

– An ambulance was immediately sent to the airport. The medics boarded shortly after landing and began performing CPR. The doctors did everything they could to save the patient, but unfortunately he died, says the press release.
