The Swedish Navy had vessels in place before the explosions

The Swedish navy had ships in place in the relevant areas in the days before the sabotage against the gas pipelines Nord stream 1 and 2, reports Dagens Nyheter. But the Swedish defense does not want to say what the ships did on the spot.

DN: The Swedish Navy had ships on the scene before the explosions

The Swedish Navy’s ship was in the area from Thursday to Saturday, and on the night of Monday the sensational explosions took place. DN has used a commercial service to track the movements, which is based on signals from so-called AIS transmitters on the ships.

These transmitters show where the ships are, but can be turned off if necessary. According to the newspaper, on Thursday the ships were precisely at the northern location where three gas leaks were later discovered. They were also in the area on Friday. The AIS transmission appears to have been turned off, but when it was turned back on, the vessels were instead at the southern area where another gas leak was later discovered.

They then returned to the northern area with three subsequent gas leaks. On the night of Monday, as the gas lines were burst, it was not possible to see if the ships were in place using the AIS system, according to DN.

– AIS data from the day in question shows that the transmitters are switched off when the ships approach exactly the areas where the gas pipelines run, notes DN.

Jimmie Adamsson, the navy’s press officer, does not want to answer what those ships did at the site, but refers to strict secrecy. – Our operations at sea are subject to extra secrecy due to various events and the global situation. So we don’t say very much about what we do, says Jimmie Adamsson.

“Not a coincidence”

SVT write:

The newspaper Dagens Nyheter has mapped ship movements in the area where the explosions on the gas pipelines Nord Stream 1 and 2 occurred. It turns out that the Swedish navy had ships in the area in the days before the sabotage.

– I don’t think it’s a coincidence, considering the performance, says Niklas Granholm, analyst at FOI.

Niklas Granholm is a research leader at Totalförsvarets’ research institute, FOI, and an expert on military activity in the Östersjön. According to him, there is too little that matches in time and space for it to be a coincidence.

– It may well be that the navy has some kind of intelligence image in the background, he tells SVT Nyheter.

The navy, via its spokesperson, has confirmed to DN that the information is correct, that ships have been in the area and carried out sea surveillance. But cannot say what the purpose was, citing strict confidentiality.

MK Bhadrakumar comments

In a gives the Indian diplomat MK Bhadrakumar his comment on Sweden’s role:

The Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter revealed that the Swedish Navy was active in the zone of Nord Stream gas pipelines on September 22 and carried out “certain maneuvers over the northern part of pipelines passing along the seabed.” Later, 3 large gas leaks were discovered there.

The Swedish Navy has since admitted to these maneuvers, but refuses to discuss the nature of the mission or even when the ships finally left the area, claiming that “current secrecy laws” do not allow public disclosure.

The Swedish naval ship had switched off the transmitters during its mission which would otherwise have allowed the tracking of its exact course.

The outside world’s impression of Sweden is a benign social democracy imbued with humanism, development and peace. But in reality it has one of the most ruthlessly efficient spy agencies in the West.

Swedish intelligence played a crucial role in Ukraine’s post-2014 transformation as an anti-Russian state. It also actively participates in the war. During the Cold War, the Soviets considered Sweden a de facto NATO country and its ‘diplomats’ in Moscow were under strict surveillance.

The catastrophic defeat in 1709 of King Carl XII at the Battle of Poltava against Tsar Peter (which ends Sweden’s imperial history) is embedded deep in the psyche and has metastasized as Russophobia. Sweden fears Russian retaliation for past hostile actions, and therefore it is urgent to seek NATO protection.

“Curiouser and curiouser!”

Lewis Carroll writes in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland:

“Curiouser and curiouser!” Cried Alice (she was so much surprised, that for the moment she quite forgot how to speak good English).”

It is an appropriate comment on the Western war politicians’ statements about the terrorist action in the Baltic Sea. First, it has been clarified that NATO had a naval exercise with an emphasis on underwater operations in the very area where the terrorist action took place, BALTOPS 22. Then it is clear that Norway has underwater drones that are at the top of the world and could well have been used there, without it being so far proven. Then Antony Blinken steps out, says enthusiastically three times at the same press conference that the explosion of the gas pipelines is a “huge possibility”, and so it turns out that the Swedish Navy operated in the exact area where the explosion took place – and has tried to hide its tracks .

The funny thing about the latter is that it will be very difficult for NATO to make anyone in the Global South believe that it could have been another major power that carried out the terrorist operation in an area that NATO and Sweden monitored so closely.

But Western and Norwegian politicians and the media are known to swallow camels crosswise, if they are told about it, they will probably swallow this too.

But in the global south, Bhadrakumar’s sarcasm is probably quite representative of the attitudes. You don’t believe this.
