A man in his 50s died in a traffic accident outside Mariefred on Sunday. According to the Swedish newspaper Expressen, it is about a well-known presenter.

Expressen writes that the man was in a car which collided with a lorry, a little later in the day on Sunday.

The police later confirmed that he was dead, and that next of kin had been notified.

The two people in the truck were taken to hospital for a check-up, and the road was closed for several hours.

“The traffic accident was a heavy collision between a car and a lorry. Three people were affected,” the police write on their website, and further:

“Both vehicles have been impounded and will be examined by police forensics.”

The police have stated that they are investigating the accident as the cause of death of another person, but that no one is suspected of anything criminal.

– We do not have the information about exactly what happened, but that is what we are trying to investigate now, says Priya G Eklund, spokesperson for the police in the eastern region, according to Expressen.

The first information to the emergency services was that a taxi and a lorry were involved in the accident.

– From what I have understood since, it has been concluded that it was a passenger car, says Eklund.
