RIVERDALE, NY – Manhattan played conference foe Siena in a doubleheader today, losing 9-2 in game one, before losing 5-3 in game two.

Game One – Siena 9, Manhattan 2

The first game was scoreless through four innings, before in the bottom of the fifth, Lindsey Hoag hit a single into centerfield, driving in Gabriella Mazzotta. This would be Manhattan’s first and only lead, as Siena would answer with a 2 RBI double in the sixth to take a 2-1 lead. This would be the score going into the seventh, before the Saints put up an 8-run inning, using eight hits, as well as two home runs to pile on their lead. Hoag would pick up another RBI hit in the bottom of the inning to make the final score 9-2.

Mollie Charest pitched for the Jaspers today, throwing 6 1/3 innings, while also recording her 100th strikeout of the season.

Game Two – Siena 5, Manhattan 3

In game two the teams would trade runs in the first inning, with Siena scoring on a throwing error, before Maddy Weir recorded an RBI ground out in the bottom of the frame. Siena would score on another error in the second to take a 2-1 lead. With a 2-1 lead in the fifth, the Saints would record back to back doubles with runners on, scoring a total of three runs to raise their lead to 5-1. In the bottom of the inning, Manhattan would get two on for Anissa Villalobos who hit a double to right field, driving in both runners to cut the score to 5-3. Both teams would throw two scoreless innings to finish the game, awarding Siena the 5-3 win.

Karissa Spring threw 4 1/3 innings for Manhattan, before Ava Metzger finished the game with the final 2 1/3 innings.

Up Next: Manhattan and Siena will finish their series tomorrow at 3:30 pm at Gaelic Park. This will be the last game of the season for Manhattan, and seniors will be honored roughly 20 minutes before the first pitch.
