Tonight the stage is set for the first semi-final in the Champions League, when the giants Bayern Munich and Real Madrid clash at the mighty Allianz Arena. Common to both of them? Each of the teams has an Englishman as the biggest star.

Ancelotti back in Munich
Real Madrid also knocked out an English team in the quarter-finals, and even they were underdogs, against reigning champions Manchester City. Carlo Ancelotti’s side battled with their backs against the wall for much of the second leg at the Etihad, but after withstanding fierce pressure for 120 nerve-wracking minutes, Real eventually emerged victorious on penalties. Now Carlo Ancelotti is returning to the club and city he coached and lived in for 18 months, and the Italian is looking forward to Tuesday’s prestigious event.
– Munich is a beautiful city, wonderful to live in. Unfortunately, I struggled to learn German, but my son speaks the language well. We are confident before the meeting with Bayern, but we have a lot of respect for them. They haven’t had their best season in the Bundesliga, but they delivered two solid games against Arsenal. Their history in this tournament is more or less similar to ours, and that has a lot to say on occasions like this, warns the Real boss.
Bayern Munich have been completely stopped by Bayer Leverkusen in the title race in this season’s edition of the Bundesliga, and manager Thomas Tuchel is known to be done with the club immediately as the season ends. Real Madrid are 99.9 percent likely to be crowned La Liga champions this season, but it is the Champions League trophy that the club lives and breathes for.
