Donald Trump, USA | The rift in the anti-abortion movement: – Donald Trump is a whore

--

THE HILTON CHARLOTTE AIRPORT, NORTH CAROLINA (Nettavisen): – A “pro-lifer” believes abortion is wrong. We believe abortion is a sin and infanticide, says Rachel Burkley to Nettavisen.

We are present at the group Abolitionists Rising’s annual conference. A few hundred people have gathered to discuss and create a battle plan to abolish abortion, while babies scream in the background.

We know the conflict in the US as “pro-life” or “pro-choice”. But the external forces in the anti-abortion movement believe that an important distinction exists.

While some “pro-lifers”, like Donald Trumpis for exceptions, Abolitionists Rising are tired of compromise and Republicans who put winning elections above being faithful to God.

The group compares itself to the movement that in the 18th and 19th centuries worked to abolish slavery. Their goal is to abolish and criminalize abortion worldwide. Also in Norway, they point out to Nettavisen.

Donald Trump is labeled as the “pro choice” Donald.

– I said that Donald Trump is a whore

If Abolitionists Rising gets to decide, there shall be no exceptions. Neither if the woman has been raped, there is a danger to the woman’s life or if the woman has been exposed to incest – as presidential candidate Trump is in favor of.

– I don’t like Trump because I think he is a whore, says Ron Kranz to Nettavisen.

– A whore?

– Yes, you heard me. I said Donald Trump is a whore, Kranz emphasizes as he bends down towards the voice recorder.

He doesn’t like either Trump or Biden. In Kranz’s eyes, the presidential candidates are two whores in a bidding round. Trump only thinks about what will work for him, he believes.

– It worked for the slave owners to beat their slaves. Just because it works, it shouldn’t be a standard, Kranz believes.

There are many who believe that abortion should be legal because of rape, says Christine Harhoef in the organization NotAVictim .

– But abortion and rape are wrong for the same reasons. It is violent acts against other people’s bodies. We then do not kill children because of the father’s actions. But by all means, let’s give the rapist a public execution, says Christine Harhoef to Nettavisen.

She also won’t vote for Trump this year. Her conscience won’t allow it. He is not a godly man.

Abortion on election this year

Abortion is one of the most important election issues for many Americans in 2024 on both sides. Until 2022, abortion was a constitutional right women had had since 1973. But in May 2022, a leak appeared in Politico that shook the United States. The US Supreme Court planned to abolish the federal right to abortion.

Just over a month later, on 24 June 2022, the right was removed at national level.

Some celebrated, others cried. Since the decision, several states have introduced abortion bans. Donald Trump appointed three Supreme Court justices during his presidency. Six out of nine Supreme Court justices are now conservative. Trump has taken credit for the fall of Roe v. Wade.

– God judges Europe, the USA and Norway

Although several in Abolitionists Rising believe that the fall of Roe v. Wade was a step in the right direction, they still fear that developments in the United States and the rest of the world are going in the wrong direction. We turn our backs on God throughout the world, is the message.

– Once you have agreed to the premise that killing children is okay, then that is just the way it is. So why not 18 weeks? Why not 30 weeks? Why not the young child there? Kranz asks rhetorically as he points to a two-year-old girl, Kranz says.

This spring, the Norwegian government will propose an amendment to the current abortion law. Today’s abortion limit may increase from 12 weeks to 18 weeks if the proposal receives a majority in the Storting.

– God judges Europe. God judges Norway. God is judging the USA, says Kranz to Nettavisen.

– This is a holocaust in our society

Another distinction the group is concerned with is the woman’s role in an abortion. Some Christians treat women as victims. They are not, says Abolitionists Rising.

The group is in favor of the death penalty for women who have abortions. Death penalty in most cases. The women who have abortions have darkness and murder in their hearts, says Rachel Burkley.

– How do you feel that the rhetoric you use probably upsets many women who have had an abortion?

– I don’t think it is our message that upsets them. I think it is their conscience. She knows that she has a child and that the child’s future is in her hands. When we talk to women who have had an abortion and they react, I think it’s their conscience that comes to the surface, says Burkley.

She also compares abortion to the holocaust.

– This is a holocaust in our society, says Burkley.

– So you think abortion is as bad as the Holocaust? The Holocaust was a genocide.

– If you look at the numbers, this is the biggest genocide that has ever taken place. But it happens behind closed doors. In people’s homes. If we look at the definition of genocide in the dictionary, the description fits, Burkley replies.

During World War II, over six million Jews were killed.

In the years 2013 to 2021, over 600,000 legal abortions were carried out each year, according to Statista. The Guttmacher Institute’s figures is higher. For example, their data collection showed that 930,160 abortions were performed in the United States in 2020.

– I feel a deep sadness that so many women have committed murder in our society and do not know about the forgiveness of Christ, she adds.

– They must be punished

But what does forgiveness really mean for the movement? Abolitionists Rising is in favor of the death penalty for women who have abortions.

– We want the same laws that protect you and me from being murdered to apply to those in the womb, explains Rachel.

– We don’t let rapists run around in the streets. They don’t get to just go out into the streets and live their lives. The ultimate punishment for the ultimate crime is the death penalty. Does that make sense? she asks.

– But as I understand the gospel, you can be forgiven for your sins if you believe in God and ask for forgiveness. Why shouldn’t women who have had an abortion receive this forgiveness?

– The term is misunderstood. Here it is appropriate to refer to the distinction between state and church. The state’s job is to punish perpetrators. The church’s job is to preach the gospel. God is not saying that he will forgive you, he is saying that your sin has been paid for. God is just. He can’t just let someone go when they commit a crime. It would have been unfair, says Burkley.

– They are forgiven when they confess and acknowledge that they killed their own child, but turn against God. But God’s law still requires punishment, says Ron Kranz.

Comparing abortion to the Ted Bundy murders

– How will it help to kill the woman after an abortion? How is it forgiveness if they get the death penalty?

– They can still look to Jesus Christ, but that does not change the fact that they must be punished. Do you know who Ted Bundy is? It’s the same reason Ted Bundy had to die. How did it help? He was done killing people. It sent a message. He is not allowed to kill people anymore, says Kranz.

Rachel Burkley also claims that there are women at the conference this weekend who have had abortions in the past.

– They engaged in activism for the abolition of abortion, and they thought that they were going to get the death penalty when we get it. And they thought that was fine. But we do not want a law with retroactive effect, emphasizes Burkley.

Growing on social media

The movement or its members may seem old-fashioned when they regularly refer to the Gospel, the Day of Judgment, dedicating one’s life to God and propose the death penalty. But they keep pace in today’s modern society. On social media, they take off.

Abolitionists Rising has 228,000 subscribers on YouTube. The videos are viewed hundreds of thousands of times. They themselves feel that the organization is growing.

In this year’s presidential election, the plan is to vote blank for several people Nettavisen talks to. Christians are encouraged to do so.

– We are not going to vote for a president who makes compromises, concludes Burkley.
