Operations leader Kim Stokke in the South-East police district confirms this to Varden at the scene at 8pm on Thursday evening.
– A dead person has been found in the water. We have now called the police’s crime technicians to the scene and are cordoning off the area, says Stokke.
He adds that the police are working with several hypotheses about what happened.
The police cordoned off the area with tape. The identity has not been confirmed.
Missing for several days
A major search has been underway at Skotfoss in Skien for a missing 35-year-old man.
On Thursday evening, the search was put on hold. Varden is informed that this was done because of a possible discovery along the Meierelva. A total of three police patrols were present on Thursday. Response leader Kim Stokke says that a boat from the fire service has been sent out on the water, and that an assessment will be made which will take place further after they have seen what is in the water.
The last reliable sighting of the 35-year-old was at the weekend. His sister has been looking for him since Sunday and several volunteers have joined the search in the last couple of days.
Being updated.
