Agriculture’s HSE award will honor individuals or organizations that have actively contributed to raising the standard for safety and well-being on the farm. It could be to adopt innovative solutions to make the farm a safer workplace, or to contribute positively to the working environment of farmers in their district.
– The farmer and the farmer’s family deserve a safe environment on the farm, both as a workplace and as a home. We need to reduce the number of accidents in agriculture, and HSE work is central and important. We believe that those who are the best at HSE in agriculture deserve their own prize, says Arthur Salte, board member of the Norwegian Farmers’ Association.
Good examples for others to follow
The award can be given to farmers or organizations that have taken damage prevention measures with regard to mental and/or physical health.
– With the award, we want to showcase the good and creative work that is done in agriculture, which can be good examples for others to follow. The award should be a recognition of those who go ahead and set a higher standard for HSE, says Linda Stubsjøen, damage prevention officer at Landkreditt Forsikring.
What is the price?
In addition to a lot of honours, NOK 50,000 will be awarded at the annual meeting of the Norwegian Farmers’ Association in June. The price is taxable for the recipient.
Who can sign up?
The award can be given to farmers or organizations that have taken damage prevention measures with regard to mental and/or physical health.
There are no restrictions on the reason for the nomination, but here are some examples of measures that may be relevant:
- Building adaptations, smart solutions or particularly good routines that contribute to the safe handling of animals
- Design of the farmyard with a view to a safe place for children to grow up
- Smart injury prevention measures to avoid accidents and injuries
- Do something extra to create informal and social meeting places in agriculture that strengthen cohesion and contribute to sharing good ideas.
Part of the purpose of this award is to showcase the good and creative work that is done in agriculture, and which can be an inspiration to others.
