– Life-saving first aid was attempted, but unfortunately life could not be saved, says police attorney Vanja Bruvoll in a press release.
The woman died after an incident at Boots pharmacy in central Arendal on Tuesday morning.
The police are now appealing for witnesses who were in the vicinity between 09.00 and 09.25.
– It is too early to say anything about what has happened. We currently do not know whether it is about something punishable or whether it could be an accident. The police will come back with more information as soon as possible, says Bruvoll.
Large parts of the city center are blocked off.
– This is a terrible tragedy. Our focus now is to take care of those affected, relatives and employees, says managing director Kathrine Mehlin in Boots pharmacy.
Fædrelandsvennen is at the scene and has spoken to the police’s task leader Morten Helland.
– We are on the scene and are investigating the matter extensively. We are now working on collecting images from video surveillance and talking to any witnesses, he tells the newspaper.
