The police moved out at 09.30 on Tuesday after finding an injured person at Boots pharmacy in the center of Arendal. Now they confirm that it is a woman, and that she has been confirmed dead.

The police are on the scene to investigate what happened.

– Life-saving first aid was attempted, but unfortunately life could not be saved. Relatives are in the process of being notified. The police have cordoned off a large area around the pharmacy and are now working to question any witnesses, says police prosecutor Vanja Bruvoll in the Agder police district in a press release.

The police emphasize that it is too early to say whether it is an accident or an incident of violence.

Asking witnesses to get in touch

It is too early to say anything about what has happened, Bruvoll points out.

– We will provide more information as soon as possible, she says.

The police are now asking any witnesses to contact the police on telephone 02800. This concerns people who have been in the pedestrian street in Arendal by Boots pharmacy between 9am and 9.25am on Tuesday.

The incident took place inside the Boots pharmacy in the center of Arendal, confirms managing director Kathrine Mehlin in the Boots pharmacy.

– This is a terrible tragedy for everyone involved. We focus on taking care of those affected. I can confirm that it happened inside our pharmacy, but we don’t know anything more than that, says Mehlin to Dagbladet.

A crisis team is now on its way to Arendal.

– What becomes important is to take care of those who are involved or affected in any way. We want to be as much support as possible, says Mehlin, adding that the pharmacy is temporarily closed.

To Nettavisen, store manager at Interoptik Brillehjørne, Anita Nielsen, says that two police cars and two ambulances were on the scene, and that the entire street has been blocked off.
