He claims the scout has been corrected after an incident at a tournament for 12-year-olds

The Norwegian coach was surprised when a talent scout from Ajax contacted him at a tournament for 12-year-olds in Hamar.

Now the big club from Amsterdam has taken action after VG mentioned the episode that happened at an elite tournament under the auspices of Norwegian top footballOrganization for 32 top clubs on the men’s side.

Halvor Haugland Byfuglien, who is a coach for YMCA Oslo’s 12-year-old boys’ team, described the inquiry as follows:

– At the weekend I was in Hamar as a coach for the boys’ 12-year-old team at the YMCA. As I unpacked from the car on Saturday morning, I was met by a nice guy in the parking lot. He introduced himself and wondered if I had a “squad list” – because he was a “scout” for Ajax. We are basically happy with the scouting movement in the YMCA, but there I was just blown away. Boys 12 years!

VG contacted Ajax about the episode on Wednesday afternoon. About a day later – after the club had checked the background for the story – the answer came.

– We have taken this up internally with the relevant scout to avoid this happening again, writes Sophie Rama in the club’s communications department.

– Ajax basically only scouts young youth players domestically, and the youngest players as much as possible in the Amsterdam region, writes Rama.

– Youth tournaments abroad are regularly visited, but only from an exploratory point of view and not for active scouting. So the request for the squad list was purely out of interest and not meant to cause trouble.
