It ended 4-2 when Sheffield United visited on Wednesday night, after the visitors took the lead on two occasions.
However, Harry Maguire first made it 1-1, before the same man got the penalty ahead of 2-2, which Bruno Fernandes dispatched in the goal.
And ten minutes before full-time, the captain became a two-goal scorer – this time with a real rush when he tapped in from around 25 meters with his left foot.
A few minutes later he then found Rasmus Højlund at point blank range, who made it 4-2 in the end.
We got the first score of the match in the 34th minute, when Jayden Bogle picked up a terrible pass from André Onana, and had a relatively easy job of putting the ball into the goal past the cage keeper.
A few minutes before the break, however, Maguire ensured balance in the accounts, when the centre-back steered a cross from Alejandro Garnacho into the right corner with his head.
Just after the break, Ben Brereton Diaz sent the visitors back into the lead – again after messing up the United defense – before it was 2-2 just after the hour mark.
Maguire was brought down at a corner, but the ball ended up in the goal. However, referee Michael Salisbury had blown for a penalty before it crossed the line, and then Fernandes stepped forward to the penalty area where he, as so often, was safe.
And ten minutes before the end, it was finally Manchester United who took the lead.
Fernandes loaded his left foot from just over 25 metres, and just as well knocked the ball into the right corner.
The same man was the architect behind 4-2. Dalot played through the compatriot slightly out to the right, who with a brilliant pass in front of goal found Højlund at point blank range.
On top of that, it was also pleasing to see 18-year-old Ethan Wheatley come on for his United debut, as the 250th to come from the club’s academy!
