He justifies the decision with the many days of travel that the job entails.

– It has been challenging, and I want to spend my time on my loved ones going forward, he says to Adressa.

– It costs too much, says the 43-year-old.

He joined as coach for the women’s national team together with Sjur Ole Svarstad after the 2021/22 Olympic season. Kveen stops after two seasons in the role.

He actually had a contract until next season. The management of the Norwegian Skiing Association was informed of his decision at Easter.

Kveen believes that he himself has full confidence among the athletes and says that there are no sporting reasons for the departure.

– When going into such an important season, it requires the coaches to have maximum commitment and a battery that is fully charged. I know it will take a lot, and I can’t continue with the feeling I have today. Enough is enough.

He is open about the possibility of becoming national team coach again at a later date. Now he is going back to his job as cross-country coach at Meråker high school.

– When the timing is right, you should not ignore the fact that it will become relevant again. I am left with good experiences. It has been motivating and rewarding, and I have enjoyed it.

National team manager Ulf Morten Aune informs Adressa that the position will be advertised immediately.
