Shooting in Oslo – one person found injured – Greater Oslo

--

The police received several reports of shootings in Greenland in Oslo just after 03:00 on the night of Sunday.

They found a man seriously injured inside the kebab restaurant Beirut Kebab.

As of Sunday morning, no one has yet been arrested for the shooting.

The police have no specific suspects, and do not rule out the possibility that there may be more perpetrators.

At 11.42 on Sunday morning, the police state that they have seized a firearm after the incident.

Heard three shots

– The difference between whether we were there or not was whether my roommate and I had another beer. This is the nearest kebab shop that is open, so it is usually where we go.

That’s what one of the neighbors NRK has spoken to says.

He is anonymous, because he fears being known again by the criminals.

It is not the first time this has happened.

– I don’t feel people understand how bad it actually is. It will snow maybe every second to third week. Serious incidents of violence occur almost every day.

The neighbor says that they have seen violent incidents happening right in front of them.

Half an hour before the shooting, he witnessed a drug-induced psychosis in the same street. Once he himself was beaten and robbed for a bag of beer, and the roommate was pushed off the scooter because she did not answer when someone spoke to her. She doesn’t go out when it’s dark anymore, unless she has someone with her.

When this happens, the neighbor calls the police. Then he puts the mobile in his pocket, so that no one will see that it was him who called.

– Then we meet the people involved again afterwards, and get an offer to buy something. In the beginning, we called the police often, but we gradually saw that there was nothing wrong with it.

He said that he has gone to the police several times, and was able to point out those who have been involved.

– But it seems that the most important thing is to show up and turn on the blue light.

Doesn’t indicate random action

The police work with tactical and technical investigations.

They say that the investigation so far indicates that it is not a random act.

– As the police assess the situation, there is no danger to third parties, says police attorney Gina Salvesen.

The police confirmed to NRK on Sunday morning that more than just one shot was heard in the area.

They now want contact with people who have been in the vicinity of Grønland square on the night of Sunday, especially between 02.00 and 04.00.

– We are now working further with several investigative steps, including camera surveillance and witness interviews, says Salvesen.

They are investigating and up against several environments.

– It is a very disturbing incident

City councilor in Oslo, Eirik Lae Solberg (H), says he is concerned that there are violent episodes in the city almost daily.

– Development is going in the wrong direction. We are completely forced to turn it around.

In particular, he points out that violent crime between children and young people is increasing a lot.

He believes the most important thing that can be done is to give the police more resources.

– The government must strengthen the Oslo police, and Oslo municipality must put in preventive work. But we are completely dependent on the police handling the situation which is unfortunately developing, says Lae Solberg.

City council leader in Oslo, Eirik Lae Solberg (H), says the municipality has established an exit program to help young people out of the criminal environment. They also want to work to ensure that young people are not recruited into these environments.

Get neighborhood police

This is not the first time there has been unrest in Greenland.

From 1 May, there will be more visible police in the district. 38 police officers will work to crack down on drug dealers, violence and threats in the area.

The neighbor NRK has spoken to.

– I am very pleased with that! This has been a safe haven for serious criminals, so it is incredibly good that it is finally happening.

The city council leader also says he is happy that the police are prioritizing Greenland now.

– This is an area that has experienced a lot of crime, violence and drug trafficking. But it is important that it does not come at the expense of the police efforts in Oslo and elsewhere, says Lae Solberg.
