Since 2011, SpareBank 1 has offered its customers login and payment authorization via the one-time code app. In 2022, BankID came up with a similar solution that most banks have now adopted in the BankID app.

Now SpareBank 1 has also switched to this. It means that the one-time code app will stop working shortly. The bank reports this in a press release.

– Customers with the one-time code app have been told to switch to the BankID app. Most have already done this, but there is still a lot to do, says Bjørnar Mickelson, information manager at SpareBank 1 Østlandet.

Soon to stop working

Customers who today still use SpareBank 1’s one-time code app are asked to switch to the BankID app as soon as possible.

It’s a very simple process that only takes a couple of minutes: Download the BankID app in the App Store or Google Play, open the app and follow the steps from there.

Information about the transition to the BankID app, including step-by-step guidance, is also readily available on the bank’s website.

– Customers who use a physical code chip and want to continue doing so do not need to take any action. They can continue to use the code chip as before, says Mickelson.

– Be careful

There are many fraudsters who try to take advantage of changes around BankID and the one-time code app. The bank therefore asks customers and others to be careful if they should receive SMS or e-mails that contain links or other suspicious content.

– We emphasize that we do not send customers links via SMS or e-mail in this process. Do not log in or download anything via links if you receive this. Download the BankID app directly from the App Store or Google Play. Also make sure you never give out your BankID password or other sensitive information – no matter who contacts you and asks about this, says Mickelson.
