This is what school policy spokesperson Eivor Evenrud in Oslo Ap says to Nettavisen after it became known that an Oslo principal was attacked by an underage student.

Evenrud, who is also faction leader in the culture and education committee. says that she is concerned about the development of violence in the Oslo school, and says she wants more special classes for young people who have committed crime.

– We have to take action in Oslo, and we have to do it now. Oslo Ap wants us to set up an emergency team against violence and bullying in the Oslo school already this spring, which can step out and be present with help at certain levels and schools, says Evenrud to Nettavisen.

And one of the moves is to take students out of their regular classes.

– We also have to recognize that some students have to be taken out of their regular class for periods of time, in order to protect students who are exposed to violence and bullying.

Evenrud says that some students are afraid to go to school.

An offer has already been set up for pupils who have committed crime and do not find themselves at school, OT Ulven, she says.

– Creating alternative offers, preferably according to the model we created at OT Ulven, will help both the students who expose others to inappropriate episodes, and the students who are exposed to it.

Education councilor Julie Remen Midtgarden tells Nettavisen that they take it very seriously that some of their employees are exposed to violence.

– The Education Agency is now following up on the headmaster and I am happy to hear that, given the circumstances, he is doing well. The matter has been reported to the police and the police are now investigating the matter, says Midtgarden.

She also adds that she is concerned about the increase in rape in Oslo, and that the city council is continuously working to prevent and introduce measures. However, she believes that Evenrud is opening doors when it comes to OT Ulven.

– The blue-green city council has already increased the capacity at OT Ulven by 50 per cent compared to the red-green’s budget, so that 15 new pupils in Oslo Sør can get an offer from the autumn.

Midtgarden says that they have also renewed the agreement with Guttas Campus, and that they will expand the scheme with social agents. The school will have a new deviance system from the autumn, and the staff at the Oslo School will receive extensive training in how to deal with violence and threats.

– This is a complex challenge, where the various municipal services must work well together. I am particularly concerned that the services around the school have enough resources, including the police. Here, the Labor Party and the red-green government are failing to secure enough police positions in Oslo.
