A school class on Askøy outside Bergen found 600 grams of hashish when they were clearing rubbish in a hiking area recently.

At Siglingavatnet, which is a popular hiking area for dog owners, the school has picked up over 250 bags of dog poo in the last two years.

But this year’s trip came to a surprising end when some of the students found a package of around 600 grams of hashish at a car park, writes Bergensavisen (BA) and Askøy24.

– It seems like a lot. Our students are left with a thousand questions after the experience, and now we are trying to get the police to come to the school to talk about how they work with this case, says teacher Mette Jakobsen to BA.

The officer on duty at the West police district, Laila Skeide, says she has not received any information about the case on Tuesday evening.

Principal Aina Waage at Træet skule on Askøy tells VG that there is a hiking trail in the area that has been built to be able to walk the length of the island.

– The students thought it was just a bag, but it wasn’t. The consistency was hard.

That is why the pupils’ teacher called the police, says the headmaster.

– Found something similar before?

– No, this is not something we usually find. It’s mostly dog poop out there, claims the principal.

– We heard that the newspaper the hash was wrapped in was from 2005. This indicates that the bag has been buried for a long time.
