Brighton was able to book a profit of just over 122 million pounds (1.6 billion kroner) last year. It is the highest ever in the Premier League, writes The Athletic.
Wednesday 3 April at 07:08Brighton brought in a lot of money from player sales in the 2022/23 season. Among other things, Alexis Mac Allister’s transfer to Liverpool, Marc Cucurella to Chelsea and Yves Bissouma to Tottenham are included in the calculation.
On these three player sales, Brighton should have been left with just under two billion, reports The Athletic.
The profit of 1.6 billion is markedly higher than the previous season, when the club was left with 327 million.
Tottenham held the previous PL record of 113 million pounds (1.54 billion kroner) in 2018.
– We now have a solid platform to continue to make progress on the pitch, invest in the squad and improve the experience for our supporters, says club director Paul Barber, according to The Athletic.
Brighton will probably also be able to show very green numbers this season. That is when Moises Caicedo’s record transfer to Chelsea (NOK 1.5 billion) will be recorded.
In recent years, Brighton owner Tony Bloom has poured large sums into the club, and it is likely that the profit will thus go towards repaying part of it.
Brighton are number nine in this year’s PL season with nine games remaining.
