Fire in industrial building: – Evacuate student accommodation

The emergency services have moved to Bergen where a fire has been reported in an industrial building.

– The police have initiated the evacuation of the student accommodation located in the neighboring building.

The police do not have an overview of how many have been evacuated.

In an update, the police write that it is the waste company BIR’s facility that is on fire. It is not known what is in the industrial hall where the fire is.

At 06.25 the police write that there is no danger of spread to the student accommodation, but there is a danger of spread to BIR’s warehouse which is in front of the burning building. A number of buildings have been evacuated.

VG has not yet received a response from the West police district.

– The police have ordered buses for the evacuees. As of now, it has not been reported that anyone has been injured, the West police district wrote on X earlier.

At 06.08, operations manager Morten Rebnord wrote in a message to the press that the fire service has surrounded the fire.

– The fire service believes it has good control to prevent the spread to the student accommodation.
