– We are happy that the government realizes the seriousness and that the foreign minister comes out clearly and says that Ukraine must win the war. Europe must do a greater part of the job and Norway has the finances to shoulder a greater part of the responsibility, says Jørn Sund-Henriksen, head of the Norwegian-Ukrainian Friends Association via a press release.

Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide stated after he returned home from Ukraine that the war must be reversed and that Ukraine is not only fighting for itself, but peace on our continent.

– It is reassuring that the government sees the seriousness and is clear that a Ukrainian loss could lead to further war in Europe. Norway can also be dragged into it. Norway must therefore significantly increase its support to Ukraine.

Despite the fact that Norway has an economy that is almost 50 percent larger than Denmark’s, the Danes have supported Ukraine significantly more than Norway.

– The Nansen program was a suitable size a year ago. Now the situation has changed and we have to do much more. We don’t have much more weapons to give, but is it the country in Europe that can really afford to increase the financial support for Ukraine. We have still given less than two percent of the extra income we have had because of the war in Europe, concludes Sund-Henriksen.
