The police report shortly after 8.30pm on Thursday evening that they have carried out an armed stop and check of a car on the E18 at Frognerstranda in Oslo.

Operations manager in the Oslo police district Bjarne Pedersen tells VG that they were notified by the South-Eastern police district that they wanted to control a car after a home robbery in Drammen.

According to the South-East police district, three people have been arrested.

– The police were armed because there was an assumption that the police could encounter someone who was armed, says Pedersen.

– It probably appeared dramatic for cars that have seen this from the outside, but the police carried it out as planned.

According to a witness VG spoke to, there were around 10-15 police cars with blue lights at the scene.

– There were police with helmets pointing guns at a car, says the person who wishes to remain anonymous.

Traffic in one lane must have been closed, the person says.
