Slowly but surely, the new Sotra Sambandet is beginning to take shape.

On Thursday, the Norwegian Public Roads Administration reports breakthrough in the new Kolltveit tunnel, ten months after the first blasting was carried out on 23 June last year.

It is the first of a total of four tunnels on the new Sotra connection. The deadline for approval was originally 10 October this year, but the approval came already on Wednesday morning. According to the plan, the tunnel and the rest of the new connection are to be opened on 1 June 2027.

The total framework for the project is NOK 23.1 billion.

  • The PPP company Sotra Link will build 9.4 kilometers of new national highway on the stretch from Kolltveit in Øygarden to Storavatnet in Bergen.
  • The total framework for the project is NOK 23.1 billion in 2022.
  • The new road project is to be completed in 2027.
  • The project includes a new four-lane bridge of approximately 900 metres, with a separate pedestrian and cycle path.
  • New access parking and public transport terminals will be built at Straume and Storavatnet. Three smaller bridges are also included in the project.
