Skjebergveien, Business | In front of the scheme – new asphalt is being laid in Skjebergveien

--

On Monday 22 April, the work started to lay the first layer of asphalt where there is a lack on the section of road from Kiwi Borgenhaugen up to the intersection Skjebergveien/Rådhusveien.

Sarpsborg municipality writes this on its website.

Alternative routes

Asphalt will also be laid on the pavement along the entire construction section.

The paving may mean that there is somewhat limited access to properties while the work is in progress, but the contractor will make arrangements as best as possible.

– We ask those who can to use alternative routes, and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, says the happy message from the municipality.

Criticism poured in

Massive excavation work on county road 118, which runs past Borgen IL’s home ground Mobakken in the direction of Sandbakken, has led to major reactions both among those who travel in the area and those who do business there. The municipality started the works on 11 April last year, the week after Easter.

SA has written countless cases on the topic, and project manager Fahil Teib Serdar in Sarpsborg municipality had to apologize early on that the dialogue with the business operators was not the very best from the start.

One of those who noticed on her body that customers could not find her shop was Kristine Snekvik Kvitle. She ran KK Interiør & Styling in Skjebergveien 30. However, after only a few months of operation, she had to stop the physical operation of the store and only continue with the online store. Now the online store is also history.

Kiwi reported a significant drop in turnover and the owners of the Pavilion were happy that customers were still finding their way to the fast food restaurant.

Front form

In addition to the fact that the excavation work has led to poor accessibility, the project at Borgen has received criticism because Skjebergveien itself is perceived to be narrower now than before. This is denied by project manager Fahil Teib Serdar in Sarpsborg municipality.

– Skjebergveien has not become narrower, but it is true that the bus pocket at Borgenbanen has been removed. It has been done because a new bus pocket and curb stop will be established at the Paviljongen, following an order from Viken county council, Serdar told Sarpsborg Arbeiderblad last autumn.

Progress has been made slowly but surely with the improvement of Skjebergveien. In the middle of November, it was opened so that you could drive all the way up to the Kiwi shop. And that again on new asphalt.

Now, the construction works are still ahead of schedule, and the municipality expects to complete the works before the original plan, which is basically at the beginning of June.
