The head of Russia Today, Margarita Simonjan, clearly has little sense for both Norway and so-called liberal values.
In a recording that has been posted on X, the head of the propaganda agency congratulates him who cut off the ear of a suspect in the terror attack against the Crocus City Hall in Moscow on March 22.
– We really hope that this boy, who did not hold back and cut off his ear, will not receive any (punishment) for it, says Putin supporter Simonjan, who heads a large, state-owned Russian network of news media in many countries.
Breivik parallel
One of the four accused of the attack, which killed at least 137 people, had his ear cut off after his arrest.
The brutal treatment has led to strong criticism from international media and leaders – including in Dagbladet’s editorial.
– I couldn’t care less, because, believe me, the vast majority of our compatriots have something to mourn over in this situation, says Simonjan.
She thinks a severed ear means little in such a context.
– Do you understand? This is not Norway! If you want to go to Norway, just go! she says, drawing a parallel to Norway’s treatment of Anders Behring Breivik.
– Won’t happen!
Simonjan thinks 21 years in prison was too little for Breivik’s misdeeds on Utøya and in the Government Quarter in 2011.
With illustrative images, she also criticizes the mass murderer’s prison conditions, with access to several rooms, PC games and a gym.
– Is that how it should be? asks the Russian media elite rhetorically, and answers himself:
– It’s not going to be like this! It won’t! asserts Margarita Simonjan.
