Norway will get a new Education Act this autumn. This law states that the municipality must have common school rules. You can now help influence these.

The new law states that the municipality must make school regulations. Until now, these have been called “regulations of order”.

Pupils, teachers, parents, guardians and everyone else in Stavanger can have their say on proposals for new rules until 29 April. Then the hearing period expires.

On the website, write Stavanger municipality “In Stavanger, we have made a proposal for common school rules that will apply to all schools in the municipality. At the same time, we have made a rule that allows the school to make some rules themselves. The school’s own rules cannot be in conflict with the common rules.”

The municipality has proposed that pupils themselves should be allowed to participate in the drawing up of the rules.

How is the mobile-free school going? Stavanger municipality has proposed to continue this.

In addition, you can help influence what the consequences of any violations of the school rules should be. For example, what should be the consequence if a student bullies or disrupts the lesson.

In addition to the consultation on the school rules, there is a proposal for regulations on student leave. This is also in consultation now, with a deadline of 29 April.
