As of today, there are 94 politicians who work in the government apparatus, either as ministers, state secretaries or political advisers, writes Dagbladet.
Never before have there been so many, according to the government’s own overview.
In the election campaign in 2021, Vedum promised Dagbladet to cut the number of politicians in government, which he has failed to do.
– He promised to clean up the opposition, but has only contributed to more political management and more bureaucracy when he gained power. Opposition Vedum had given Finance Minister Vedum a failing grade, says FRP deputy leader Hans Andreas Limi to the newspaper.
The current government barely beats the Solberg government, where 92 politicians were employed. Conservative MP Mari Holm Lønseth thinks Vedum regrets his promise.
“The bottom line is once again that Vedum goes out in opposition, so as not to deliver on his own promises in government,” says Lønseth.
Vedum comes up with a straightforward answer to the accusations.
– The Conservative Party and FRP talk as if they have not caught up with the demanding times the world and Norway have been in. They appear completely unaffected by the fact that we have had to make some tough choices in order to bring down the rise in prices for people and to strengthen safety and preparedness in a troubled time, replies the finance minister.
