(Lofotposten) Just after 08:30 on Easter Sunday, the police report that there has been a traffic accident in Stamsund.
– Two cars are involved. The emergency services are on their way to the scene, the message reads.
At 08:50, the police state that a minibus and a car are involved in the accident.
– The emergency services are working on the scene. The road is closed.
The accident must have happened at Skifjordmarka. There are detours via Steine.
According to Lofotposten’s experience, it must be a head-on collision.
According to FlightRadar, a medical helicopter is on its way to the scene.
The fire service has now blocked the road to make arrangements for the helicopter to land.
The fire crews have now also moved from providing security to being on site, Lofotposten’s journalist Kai Nikolaisen informs.
At 09:20 both the SAR Queen and the medical helicopter have landed at the accident site.
Just before 10 o’clock, the police incident leader states that there are a total of seven people involved in the accident. Some of these must be children.
There was an Asian traveling party of six people in the minibus and there was one person in the other car.
– Two children and two adults are now being flown to the hospital in Bodø. One of these is seriously injured. The other people involved will be taken to a doctor’s check-up in Leknes, the police say
The police currently have no idea what caused the accident. An investigation into the incident has now started.
The road in the area is still closed, but car shelters are now in place.
