“Twilight” star Taylor Lautner on appearance criticism: – Brings up old feelings

“Twilight” star Taylor Lautner (31) explains how it feels when people make nasty comments about how he looks.

The American actor won “sexiest” awards and was a big idol, when he appeared in the “Twilight” films from 2008 and several years later.

But Lautner has struggled to keep his career alive. In recent years, he has also regularly had to put up with ugly comments on social media from people who believe that his looks have been lost.

When will the 31-year-old make a frank settlement in the form of a video appeal on Instagram, where he has close to four million followers.

Lautner speaks directly to the camera and says that he just came across Instagram comments from last week, after he and his wife Tay Lautner (26) had visited a radio show in New York to talk about his podcast “The Squeeze”.

Feeling forced

– It brings up old feelings and memories, and reminded me why I steer clear of comments, he says.

But he says he is now in a better place mentally than a few years ago.

– And I feel compelled to share this with you, he says and shows screenshots of examples, where he receives snide comments about everything from his hairline to “Jeez, what happened to him?».

«Phew, he doesn’t age well», writes another.

«Looks like crap» and «looks like old broccoli», others say, and it continues like that.

Lautner clarifies that all the examples mentioned are from the same comment field, under a specific post.

– It’s crazy, but that’s the world we live in, he says.

– It is madness

The actor says he realizes there is limited what he and others can do to stop the problem. He also assures that these comments do not make him doubt himself.

– But I think that what I really want to convey is that if this had been ten years ago, or five years ago, maybe even two or three years ago, this would have really occurred to me. It would make me want to crawl into a hole.

Lautner says he would certainly stop meeting the press, and that he would probably also be intimidated from appearing in public, if only to go to the store.

– I would not put myself in a position where I had to deal with these things.

Lautner explains that he speaks from long experience, but that he has learned to find out “what is valuable and what is not”.

– If you measure your own worth based on what other people think of you, then you will feel accordingly, says Lautner.

He adds that he will not lie and claim that he does not care about what is written.

– If it were true, I wouldn’t be sitting here saying what I’m saying.

Newly married

Last year, Lautner married Tay Dome, as she was then called, and who is a nurse and influencer.

Originally, she has the same first name as her husband, but for simplicity, she just uses Tay.
