Vinmonopolet’s opening hours Christmas 2022

Perhaps you intend to treat yourself to something extra good in the glass this Christmas, or perhaps you intend to give away a bottle for Christmas? Not all poles are equally well equipped, and some of the best drops are only available through the order range. Then it might be smart to turn around.

– The last deadline where we can guarantee delivery of goods before Christmas from the order selection is already on Saturday, says Halvor Bing Lorentzen, director of communications and social responsibility at Vinmonopolet, to DinSide.

However, all hope is not lost if you don’t make it.

– In general, it is also very good to order goods that the shop does not have in stock later than this as well, but this deadline to be absolutely sure that it will arrive. Normally, goods from our major suppliers can also be ordered much later than this, and arrive by Christmas.

Drop the queue

It is also not only made-to-order goods that can be smart to order. To avoid full stores, you can order at your leisure from the sofa, through Vinmonopolet’s website or from the app.

Once you have ordered, you don’t have to stand in the checkout queue, you can find an employee in store, at the information counter, or at a separate click and collect counter.

If you shop at some selected stores, such as Bekkestua or Rygge, you can also try the Vinmonopolet’s new pick-up cabinet.

– We have a trial project where we test cupboards where you can pick up the goods yourself.

Opening hours at Christmas

The calendar shows 2 December, and Christmas is here faster than we can say “Christmas Eve at the old lady’s”. There is a lot to be done and checked off on lists, and what was it really like with these opening hours again?

The opening hours are being extended, several shops are open on Sundays, but for now you have to look far for Sunday-open Liquor Stores.

– The opening hours of Vinmonopolet are regulated by law, so we cannot stay open on Sundays, or extend the opening hours, says Lorentzen.

It is also worth noting that the legislation regulates maximum times, but there are also places in the country where there are municipal restrictions and regulations for the sale of alcohol, which are somewhat more restrictive. It is therefore smart to check with your local pol.

The pole is also not open on Christmas Eve.

– A few years ago, the legislation allowed the Vinmonopolet to stay open on certain evenings, so we are now open on Easter Eve, Whitsunday and New Year’s Eve – but not Christmas Eve.

These are the opening hours:

Week 51: Most shops are open from 10am-6pm, but check your local pol for individual opening times, as there are exceptions for some small shops.
Christmas Eve: Closed
Christmas Day: Closed
Boxing Day: Closed
Space Christmas: Normal opening hours, 10am-6pm
New Year’s Eve: Most shops are open from 10-15, but check your local pol, as there may be exceptions for some small shops.

When should you act?

The last thing we want in the run-up to Christmas is queuing, but there is a way to minimize the chances of full queues and long queues. On Vinmonopolet’s website, or in the app, you can search for your nearest pole and check when there are normally least queues in your local outlet.

– We have established an overview on the website and in the app that shows times of the day when there is a lot of and little traffic. It is based on an algorithm from last year’s sales from the corresponding day.

You can easily find the overview on the pole’s website under Shops and Opening hours. There you can search for your nearest store.

– Here we have used traffic light colors to show when there is the least chance of a queue.

TIP: If you’re a little late, you can check the inventory at your local pole – and only order items they have in stock. Then they pick the goods from the shelf, and they are normally ready within a couple of days, sometimes after a couple of hours.
