According to Reuters, Mexican authorities have discovered three dead people in northern Mexico.

These are supposed to be the three tourists who have been missing in the Mexican state of Baja California. That’s what Reuters writes, citing sources close to the investigation.

Brothers Callum and Jake Robinson from Australia, as well as American Jack Carter Rhoad, were last seen on 27 April.

The three are said to have been on a surfing holiday in Ensenada, about an hour and a half’s drive from the border between the US and Mexico.

A public prosecutor said on Thursday that three people were being investigated in connection with the case, but that it was currently unclear whether the three were involved in the disappearances.

The public prosecutor should also have stated that tents have been found in the area where the missing were last seen, but that they were formally wanted several days after they were last seen, writes Reuters.

Baja California is one of the country’s most violent states, but tourist areas such as Ensenada are considered safer.

Neither the US Embassy in Mexico nor Australia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs have commented on the matter to Reuters.
